A phone photo of  Argiope bruennichi has been sent to Rex Hancy who has confirmed the identity of the spider. This sighting is thought to be the first record for Norfolk. Argiope bruennichi is often referred to as the Wasp Spider. The specimen was found in a web on the 13 August 2006 at Saxlingham in a wild flower meadow created by the observer.

Work has been progressing on the Spider Collection at the Castle Museum, Norwich, under the direction of Tony Irwin, Curator of Natural History. It is hoped that a catalogue of spiders in the collection will be made eventually. Efforts are to be made in adding specimens to the collection and a list of requirements will be made available. It is hoped that the Group will participate when the time comes.
